This warm Friday evening, we enjoyed our city's annual "Dairy Days" parade extravaganza! We gathered up several families and all headed downtown for the festivities. The good news is we have gone in years past, but this was the best one yet. The bad news is that I forgot the camera! I'll have to swipe photos from a friend to post later....
Anyhow, we parked all our minivans in a row on a side street. All the kids brought and rode their scooters down the sidewalks, the dads carried the folding chairs, and the moms carried water bottles and all the other miscellaneous odds and ends that moms always end up carrying....
The parade was really fun. The kids loved it! There were police motorcycles, fire engines, ambulances, roadsters, horses, cows (yes, there really were cows), high school football teams, cheerleaders, gymnastics teams, etc.
The leader of the parade, however, was the special Meadow Gold Dairy semi-truck. All the kids started screaming when they saw it because they knew what they were about to receive --- chocolate milk!! Yum! They have guys in the back of the trucks with big plastic crates of individual sized cold chocolate milks. The kids go crazy!!
When you have just about finished your chocolate milk, another truck comes by and guys throw out individual packages of string cheese. Yum again!
And, of course, to finish it off, here comes the TCBY frozen yogurt truck with individually packaged chocolate vanilla swirl cups. Double yum!
The only bummer of the entire evening was the undeniable fact that my poor sweet girl is lactose intolerant and missed out on all the dairy goodness. :(
Luckily, there were always floats throughout the parade that threw out candy, so she wasn't too upset. :) Except that I repeatedly swiped her candy to check its ingredients for egg protein. :(
I wonder what its like to have a child without any food allergies or intolerances....

Ah....the good ol' dairy days.
Did they do the great big water fight too? Is that the right parade? Maybe I'm mixed up. But hey, you can't beat free chocolate milk. (Except when you are poor little Miss H. Such a bummer.)
